Many online entrepreneurs will tell you that there is money to be harvested in blog content, whether by means of affiliate marketing, advertising, or distribution of information products.
Google is inundated daily with queries for a way to begin making money online, and one way or another, the dedicated reader will find endless information on how to monetize websites by way of text-link advertising, or listing a few favorite items from Amazon on their blog's sidebar. Yet, there are still burning questions for the entry-level guru. I recall my early days in ebusiness, eager to start an informative blog, but unsure of what niche to target that would quickly build revenue as well as traffic.
Product based content, that is content dealing with individual consumer goods, proved to be a great way to start. As I said earlier, many online entrepreneurs recommend affiliate marketing of products sold online, but what they don't tell you is that the majority of their revenue still comes from campaigns like Google's AdSense. But why then should a publisher attempt to monetize through product based content?
Product based content drives search engine traffic.
It's as simple as that. The revenue from marketing various goods is different from publisher to publisher, depending on many factors in online business strategy, but the concept (which many overlook, leading me to this conclusion on my own) demonstrates that even if revenue does not increase through affiliate sales, search engine traffic skyrockets. It has everything to do with the modern consumer, who now regularly slaps a product name into a search engine, either to start comparison shopping from there, or to find reviews and testimonials as research before purchasing. Publishers who take advantage of this pattern will benefit in revenue overall, regardless of affiliate sales, especially if targeted advertising is an existing cash-flow stream.
Its a simple model, and it can be applied to a multitude of websites--I speak in terms of blogs, as this is for many entrepreneurs an easy head-start in online business. Product based content serves as a highly proactive catalyst for website growth overall, even if it is offered as supplementary content to a pre-existing business model.
The unquestionable value of product based content
